Buying Golf Clubs and Equipment

Golf is one of the UK’s most popular sports with thousands of new starters getting involved every week. A wonderful form of relaxation which can be extremely addictive with highly committed participants.

One of the drawbacks of the sport is the financial outlay that is necessary when you first take up golf, this includes golf club membership, clothing, clubs and other golf equipment and accessories. This article points out some hints and tips when first buying golf equipment so you can pick up the sport without blowing your entire budget!

A common mistake new golfers make is to straight away go out and buy a top set of brand new golf clubs and equipment without having really tested out the sport first. Although it’s great to look good and have the best equipment possible, buying expensive clubs will not necessarily lower your handicap. With so much on the market these days you can easily pick up a good deal on cheap clubs which are equally as good quality.

Many stores buy their heads, shafts, and grips from the same small community of golf manufacturing suppliers as the large companies such as Callaway, Ping, Titliest, TaylorMade and Cobra do. Terefore they can offer the exact same quality of product at a much cheaper price. It’s exactly the same concept as when you go shopping for a T-shirt, if you buy a labelled one you may end up paying four times as much as you would for an unlabelled one of the same quality.

One popular option for new golfers is to buy a half-set of clubs. Usually this consists of five irons, two woods and a putter. This covers most of the club sizes you will need to get started, develop your interest in the sport and work out whether it will be a life-long hobby or just a fleeting interest.

Most shops both online and in the high street stock a wide range of half-sets of clubs. You will also be able to benefit from their advice. Have a look at a range of online sports equipment stores that can help you.

On the plus side of buying a new set of golf clubs is that it can give an immediate boost in confidence to be taking up your first rounds of golf, however, you might be fairly embarrassed looking like an abject failure whilst using a top notch set of clubs.
